“Mental health presents one of the greatest challenges that current and future generations will face. In health, economic and social terms, the burden created by mental health problems and mental illness in the UK is immense and growing”

David Brindle Public Services Editor, The Guardian

Statistics show that at any one time one in six employees will be experiencing mental distress, depression or problems relating to stress, thus it is not surprising that mental health problems cost employers in the UK £30 billion a year through lost production, recruitment and absence.

This also suggests that mediators will often encounter cases involving mental health related issues in their practice.

Join the PMA for this eye opener on the relationship between conflict management and mental health. Find out about the common themes that occur in mediation cases and develop practical competence in mediating workplace disputes in this area.

Participants will:

  • Boost knowledge of mental health and common mental health  conditions in the workplace
  • Increase ability and confidence to assess capacity for mediation
  • Raise awareness about blocks and barriers around mediating & mental health
  • Gain practical tools and techniques for managing behaviours related to mental health issues in mediation
  • Engage in round table discussions and case studies on this theme

The event will also feature guest speakers from leading mental health institutions to support practitioners in managing mental health both in and out of mediations.
